Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, who often makes headlines for his controversial statements, sparked yet another row on 29 August after he said that his party was a "sinking ship".
When asked about defecting SP leaders, Khan said: "rats are the first ones to run when a ship sinks," Pradesh18 reported.
Khan claimed that the leaders who were leaving the SP were worried about losing their party ticket.
Recently, senior party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh had expressed his displeasure over UP CM Akhilesh Yadav's working-style and said that he was being insulted, sidelined and kept on "mute".
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on 29 August issued a notice to Khan and the UP government for making irresponsible comments in the Bulandshahr rape case.
